The International Research Society of Spinal Deformities (IRSSD) was established in 1994 to advance the study and research into Spinal Deformities for the public benefit.
The object of the Society is to provide a forum for the presentation and encouragement of research relating to spinal deformity and to disseminate the results of such research.

The 2016 Meeting of the Society
The 2016 meeting was a successful combined meeting of the IRSSD and SOSORT, held in Banff, Alberta in Canada from May 25 – 28 2016.

Dr. Edmond Lou and Dr. Eric Parent hosted the meeting at Banff, Alberta in Canada for participation in the 1ST Joint SOSORT-IRSSD education and scientific meeting. It was held at The Banff Centre located in the Rocky Mountains.
Professor Yong Qiu, President of the Chinese Scoliosis Research Society and Dr Hubert Labelle, research chair in movement science at Hôpital Ste-Justine and chair of the SRS screening task force provided keynote lectures.
